GHAZIABAD: The district administration of Ghaziabad issued closure orders on Sunday upon all schools till 12 January owing to cold weather conditions in the region. The order is applicable up to Class 12 in all government, government-aided and private schools of Ghaziabad.
Administration officials however said practical exams for Class 12 and pre-board exams for Classes 10 and 12 will be held as per schedule in the district. No closure orders or change in school timings however have been issued by the district administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The orders were issued after mercury took a dip on Sunday following early morning showers. Maximum temperature was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius on Sunday while the minimum plummeted to nine degrees. Minimum temperatures are likely to dip further and hover around 6 degree Celsius by the middle of this week.
“The order will be reviewed after 12 January. Since 13 January is a Sunday, most schools will reopen only a day after. Necessary orders will be issued vis-à-vis the weather conditions prevalent at that point of time,” district magistrate Ritu Maheshwari told TOI.
On December 16, the administration had ordered all private schools to begin classes only at 9 am when temperatures had fallen. On January 4, further directions were issued by the administration ordering government schools to conduct classes only in between 10 am and 3 pm.
Ghaziabad district administration has also not ordered any change of timings or closure orders upon colleges or other institutes of higher learning.
